Marching Around the Walls Well, Happy New Year to all! The year has barely begun, and there are already many wonderful things planned. I want to tell you about a wonderfully powerful event called One Cry, happening this year on March 23rd. This is a solemn assembly, a time for students and campus ministers to come together through worship and prayer in praise, repentance, petitions, and declarations for the transformation of the culture of the campus in the city. CRM has been doing this yearly since 2009, and as we were preparing, God spoke His heart on the matter. I was in my quiet time with the Lord, reading in Joshua 6, and I felt like the Lord said to me, "I want that for One Cry." After meditating more on this and asking for more revelation, we began to understand that it was about trust, prayer, and preparation. So in prayer and preparation, 6 schools of the NYC metro are are going to have One Cry Pre-Rallies before the actual event where, in the course of that day, the students will prayer walk their campus and close with prayer and worship, looking to keep building up the prayer momentum. On the 23rd, there will be 7 hours of dedicated and constant prayer on location, and then we will begin with the trumpet sound and Cry Out to God, declaring the breakdown of the walls and strongholds on our campuses and the dedication of everything in it to the Lord. Oh my goodness, just writing these words makes me shake in anticipation! Please join us in prayer, and keep updated at nyc.campusrenewal.org. The information is not all up, but it should be finished sometime next week. On that site, you will also see the One Cry Network; this is something we are establishing so that students on every campus can see how God is moving not only on their own campuses in other ministries, but in all the campuses of the metro area. We're raising up watchmen on the walls at each campus to relay those stories to be told. What an exciting time to be here! | | | Collegiate Day of Prayer I am so excited for this year's Collegiate Day of Prayer, scheduled for February 23rd. If you haven't heard of it, this is a day dedicated to praying for the colleges and universities of our Nation. Jeremy Story and a small team of leaders of other college ministries worked together to reinstate this day of prayer three or four years ago, from a tradition that fell out of practice - see history. Each Year, more colleges, organizations, and individuals sign up to participate in order to partner together in prayer for a very influential segment of our culture. Gather together with friends, or set aside a quite time by yourself. Either way, join us today! CDOP. | | Passion 2012 I was an intercessor at Passion 2012, what an awesome experience, praying for 43000+ students. I won't go into details - you really should look it up on passion268.org, facebook, twitter, it's all there. It was an exhilarating experience, but some things gripped my heart as I was sitting and praying in that last main session on January 5, 2102. We have a young army ready to change the world. We say it often, but we need to grasp it and take action. As Louie Giglio gave the charge to these students, as well as to the over 40000 listening to the live feed, to do something now, to make a difference where they are at, to live the call and will of God for their lives in whatever area they find themselves in - be it media, government, entertainment, sports, NASCAR, social justice, whatever - I knew that there was a HUGE responsibility on the rest of us to partner. You see, for many of these students, God has given impossible dreams, and they go to people who they look up to and say, "can you help me? Can I do this?" and we have a small window of time and a huge decision to make. Do we look at their visions and dreams through the lens of what looks possible, or the lens of our broken or delayed dreams or whatever has stagnated us? Or do we say, as Jonathan's armour bearer once said so long ago, "Go, do all that is in your heart... Here I am with you according to your desire"? We have a remarkable opportunity encourage and affect the short term future in a very simple but far reaching way. God is the God of the impossible: 43000+ have already said yes. What are you going to do? | | | |
