One Cry Pre-Rallies and Citywide Event In my last news letter, I told you about our vision for this year's One Cry (if you missed it, click HERE). There were essentially six pre-rallies leading up to the citywide One Cry event. These rallies are similar to concerts of prayer, where we had worship and prayer integrated throughout the evening, with a brief message on why we are praying and interceding for our campuses. These rallies went very well; it was a fantastic time of calling students to arms, into battle in the spiritual realm for their campus, and to see their role in a story that is bigger than their own little world. We had a couple of salvations over the course of the six evenings, and sense of anticipation for the citywide event. One Cry Citywide was INCREDIBLE. I'm realizing that, as the organizer, I could list the many things that went wrong or go exactly as planned, but that really didn't matter at all. Students experienced God in a very deep and profound way, lives were transformed, a mission and vision for glorifying God in NYC was sparked in many of the students, new believers were added to the Kingdom, and the call of God was advanced in a mighty way. These past several weeks of furiously working and planning did not culminate in just an event, but the beginning of something new and powerful. We sang Hosanna that night, and I really did see a generation rising up to take their place, with a selfless faith. And I saw a near revival, stirring as wee prayed and sought, on our knees [arms stretched high, flat before the Lord]. We are not through yet, and I am that much more excited to go further. | | | Collegiate Day of Prayer Update I mentioned the Collegiate Day of Prayer in my last news letter also - it was fantastic! More campuses were prayed for than ever before! From the statistics on the website, about half of every college in America was prayed for by name. 20 other nations even partnered together with us - to pray for the college students of the U.S - how crazy cool is that?! The purpose of the Collegiate Day of Prayer is to gather together Christians to agree in united prayer for God to pour out a spiritual awakening on America's college campuses. Everyone, not just students, from all 50 states and almost 20 nations marked this day in united intercession for the spiritual needs of this generation. I encourage you to visit the website ( www.collegiatedayofprayer.org) to read about the awesome testimonies! We are so encouraged for how the Collegiate Day of Prayer has been used to build bridges between the generations, churches and campus ministries, and we look forward to next year. Mark your calendar for February 28, 2013! | | Growing the Team A great thing that has come out of the One Cry Citywide Event is a number of students who are interested and have a heart for the vision and mission of Campus Renewal Ministries. While they won't be leaving their own ministries, they will be helping in a core group to help spread out the One Cry Network. The OCN, while it started out of the citywide event, is a movement that connects students across organizations, churches, and campuses to band together in a united mission to transform NYC for the glory of God. We have an online magazine, students collecting stories of what the Lord is doing on their campuses, prayer groups networked across the city, interfellowship events, and much more. It is so wonderful to see students step up and own part of this. The harvest surely is plentiful; please continue to pray to the Lord of the harvest with us for more workers! | | |
