One Cry Prayer Congress
Well, this weekend we had our first One Cry Prayer Congress. It was unbelievable! Let me back up : we had a training on prayer this last Saturday for students who want to know more about prayer and how to pray for their campuses. We did one a couple of years ago, and one of those students, who is now on our core team, expressed an interest and doing one again. So we empowered him and helped him flesh out this vision of having speakers teach and do some hands on training in prayer. I thing the enemy knew how powerful it would be, because we had to postpone it twice, once because of lack of communication, and again because of a blizzard. There was another blizzard forecasted for last weekend, but we stood in faith, and the weather was beautiful!
We had several speakers - and evangelist who's ministry is to Columbia University and Colombia the country, a pastor, the director of a ministry house, one of our volunteers who is preparing to come on staff here in NYC, and myself. The students were hungry and very engaged, and walked out with a very different perception of prayer than they walked in with. I remember one speaker commented about praying when the Lord leads you, and that He may give you an assignment that He hasn't given anyone else, and that it may mean life or death. The way the students kept coming back to that when I asked them about something that made the most impact on them just proved to me that their prayer life would be looked at in a very different way.
As we have decided to make this a monthly thing, I am looking forward to the next Congress!!!
