Congresses, Rallies, and Gatherings, Oh My!

When we got started here in NYC, we certainly began about 100 miles per hour, and that's just the starting speed!

This past weekend, we hosted a prayer training seminar for those students interested  in learning more about going deeper in their prayer lives, called the One Cry Prayer Congress. You can read more about that on my blog here, and I will be posting more pictures as I get therm there also, but it was a fantastic event, and we are so excited for the next monthly event!

We have interest from about eight or nine campuses to do Campus Rallies. This is bringing the One Cry Citywide Gathering experience to a local campus level in order to unite the Body of Christ there. We started facilitating this about three years ago with three of the 88+ campuses in NYC metro area, so it's wonderful to see growth in this area!

The One Cry Citywide Gathering is coming up April 12. This semester theme is Age to Age, and we are working diligently to get churches and business people involved and connected at this Gathering, and as a result, more connected to partnering. mentoring, guiding, and providing a relational community for our college age brothers and sisters. We are so excited for this endeavour, especially since we feel that this is what is on the heart of God!

Join in Prayer For the Campuses Across the Nation!

The fourth Thursday of every February has been rededicated to praying for college campuses and students in the US - check out the history here. You don't have to be a part of a group to pray, although you can. All it takes is going to the Collegiate Day of Prayer site, adopting a campus, and joining with thousands of others in praying for God to powerfully redeem and transform this area. Together we can do so much more than we can a part, so please, adopt a campus today!

Praise Report!

So, last month, (and many months before that)m I asked you to pray that we could find office space for an affordable price in Manhattan. God, being the God of the impossible, totally made that happen! We are sharing a space with another company in the Herald Square area, directly behind Macy's, and accessible to almost every major subway line that runs through Manhattan. Praise the Lord, and thank you for praying!!!

Coming Up

  • Eight, possible nine One Cry Campus Rallies in the next two months.
  • Monthly Prayer Congresses. Our next one is March 9th, and we hope to do some small group ministering at this one.
  • Our Citywide One Cry gathering in NYC, April 12
  • Campus Transformation Network Leader's gathering in early May

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray that I get the support I need for the amount I am responsible to raise at CRM.
  • Related to the last point; I would like to get to the point where I can get on the health sharing plan CRM is a part of - As much as we walk in NY, I need to get my right foot looked at.
  • My mother is selling her house; please pray for everything that goes into that.
  • More workers for the harvest here and across the nation, and the funds to provide for them. We have opportunities past our capacity to minister and manage!
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:4-7

One Cry Prayer Congress

Well, this weekend we had our first One Cry Prayer Congress. It was unbelievable! Let me back up : we had a training on prayer this last Saturday for students who want to know more about prayer and how to pray for their campuses. We did one a couple of years ago, and one of those students, who is now on our core team, expressed an interest and doing one again. So we empowered him and helped him flesh out this vision of having speakers teach and do some hands on training in prayer. I thing the enemy knew how powerful it would be, because we had to postpone it twice, once because of lack of communication, and again because of a blizzard. There was another blizzard forecasted for last weekend, but we stood in faith, and the weather was beautiful!

We had several speakers - and evangelist who's ministry is to Columbia University and Colombia the country, a pastor, the director of a ministry house, one of our volunteers who is preparing to come on staff here in NYC, and myself. The students were hungry and very engaged, and walked out with a very different perception of prayer than they walked in with. I remember one speaker commented about praying when the Lord leads you, and that He may give you an assignment that He hasn't given anyone else, and that it may mean life or death. The way the students kept coming back to that when I asked them about something that made the most impact on them just proved to me that their prayer life would be looked at in a very different way.

As we have decided to make this a monthly thing, I am looking forward to the next Congress!!!
